The University of Arkansas is connected to the internet through a 20Gb and 100Gb fiber optic connection provided by ARE-ON. This connection is distributed across campus, providing a fast and reliable experience. Infrastructure services include Data Center services, database management, network and connectivity, and server and storage management.

Wi-Fi and Network

The university provides wireless internet access for all students, faculty, staff and guests on campus. Access points are located in every building on campus, as well as some outdoor areas. IT Services manages public and private IP addresses and domain name services including the ability to add or change domain names, request vanity DNS for hosted websites, and manage workstations and printers. Infoblox

Infoblox is the campus DNS and DHCP management system. Access to Infoblox for departmental technicians is provided after completion of a training session offered by IT Services. VPN is required for accessing Infoblox, even when on campus

IT Services provides domain name services including the ability to add or change domain names, request vanity DNS for hosted websites, and manage workstations and printers.

IP Addresses

An IP address is an identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Depending on your location, your campus IP address would be "130.184.xx.xxx" or "10.x.x.x." Your computer must be online to obtain an IP address.

Requesting a Campus Firewall Change

Any application using default ports will already be unblocked to the campus network. Please allow up to two weeks for firewall requests on the campus and data center firewalls.

Network distribution switches route campus network traffic to various buildings on campus. Buildings associated with a distribution switch location will be affected during distribution switch maintenance or outages.
