The university creates a primary UARK account for each new student and each new employee. New students and employees must set up the account using the personal email address and phone number from the student's or employee's application, and then set up Multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Fayetteville Policies and Procedures 900.0 Code of Computing Practices
To set up a new primary UARK account, a new student or employee will need:
Step 1: Set the account password
- Go to:
passwordreset.uark.edu
Note: You may need to open an incognito or private browser window if you are already logged in with a personal Microsoft account.
- Enter the email address of the new account in the Email or Username field, and complete the Captcha field. Click Next.

- Select “I forgot my password”, and click Next.

- Select Email my alternate email for verification, and click the Email button.

- An email containing a code will be sent to the email address that was used by the account owner to apply as a student or employee.

- Enter the code that was emailed to your alternate email account, and click Next.

- For the next verification, select Text my mobile phone (or select to call instead of text to the same phone number). The verification phone number will be the number used to apply as a student or employee. Enter this phone number in the “Enter your phone number” field. Click the Text button.

- A text message with a verification code will be sent to the verification phone number.

- Enter the code that was texted to your verification phone number, and click Next.

- Create a new password for the account. Type the new password into the Enter new password field and the Confirm new password field. Click the Finish button.
See the UARK account password requirements for help in creating a new password.

If your password does not meet the requirements, you will receive an error message and will need to try a different password.

- After entering an appropriate new password, you will receive the message (and email) that your password has been reset.

Step 2: Set up MFA
After you have set the password for your account, you must set up MFA on your account to securely log into and access university resources.
Step 3: Confirm or set a recovery email address
It's important to set a recovery email address in case you ever need to recover your password or get back into a locked account.
- Use your UARK account username and password to log into:
account.uark.edu.
You will be prompted to authenticate.
- Click Security Info in the left navigation column.
- Check if Email is listed as a sign-in method.
- If so, confirm that the email address is current and correct.
- If Email is not listed, click the Add Sign-in Method button at the top of the list, and select Email. Enter a current alternate email address.
If you were unable to reset your password, please call the Help Desk or create a ticket.
