Microsoft Fabric Platform Services provides the university's managed Microsoft Fabric environment for instructional, research, and business data workloads. The service delivers governed Fabric workspaces and administers the platform components required to support analytics, reporting, data engineering, and AI capabilities.
The service includes workspace provisioning, workspace lifecycle management, workspace decommissioning, platform configuration, capacity administration, security integration, governance implementation, feature evaluation, and technical support for the Fabric platform. Fabric administrators maintain the platform and its supporting configurations so departments can use Fabric capabilities without managing the underlying infrastructure.
This service is responsible for the operation and administration of the Microsoft Fabric platform itself. It does not provide report development, notebook development, data engineering project delivery, business analytics consulting, departmental data stewardship, or ownership of business data.
Typical requests include:
- Request a Fabric Workspace
- Decommission a Fabric Workspace
- Request Fabric Support
- Report a Problem with Fabric
Access approvals and business ownership of data remain the responsibility of the appropriate workspace owners, data owners, and departmental stakeholders.
