Use this service to request the retirement of a Microsoft Fabric workspace that is no longer required for instruction, research, administrative operations, or other university business purposes.
Workspace decommissioning includes reviewing and documenting the disposition of workspace content before the workspace is deleted. Depending on business, academic, research, compliance, or retention requirements, data and Fabric artifacts may be deleted, archived, or migrated to another workspace.
This request supports the following decommissioning patterns:
- Retire and Delete
- Retire and Archive
- Retire and Migrate Artifacts
- Retire and Migrate Workspace Contents
Before submitting this request, identify what should happen to any notebooks, data, reports, semantic models, pipelines, lakehouses, warehouses, and other workspace artifacts.
Approval from the workspace owner is required before any content is permanently removed.
