Your Emergency Response Location (ERL) is your primary location on campus.
VoIP 911 Policy
A physical VoIP desk phone wired to a network port on campus consistently remains in one location, so it is the best option for calling 911. Your location is automatically available to the dispatch operator as the Emergency Response Location (ERL) information will be sent. A VoIP softphone application such as Teams will only provide information that is on file for the user, and therefore is not a recommended method for contacting 911. Cellular phones only provide approximate location information.
You are responsible for ensuring your ERL is up to date. Use the VoIP Phone Move form to update your campus primary location. Only the primary user can view and update their location information. Delegates cannot update location information for other users.
Departmental Phones
Departmental phone numbers not assigned to individuals are also given emergency response locations. To update the location of a departmental phone, use the VoIP Phone Move form.
