In April, 2027, all faculty, staff, and student employees will be required to set up a passkey and enroll in the passkey group. After this date, faculty, staff, and student employees will be required to use a passkey to authenticate when accessing university resources.
Note: Minimum requirements for mobile devices are Android 14 and later or iOS 17 and later and Bluetooth must be enabled on both devices.
All of the following steps must be completed!
Step 1: Set up Windows Hello
Windows users must set up Windows Hello before setting up a passkey. If you are using a non-Windows device, go on to step 2.
Step 2: Set up Microsoft Authenticator
Most current University of Arkansas faculty, staff, and students have already set up Microsoft Authenticator on their mobile devices and are currently using it as their MFA method, so should NOT complete these steps again, but if you have not set it up already, see the instructions for setting up Microsoft Authenticator.
Step 3: Create a Microsoft passkey
Create a passkey with Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device (typically your cell phone).
Step 4: Sign out of everything
Sign out of everything to prevent issues with the new MFA method.
Step 5: Enroll in the MFA with Passkey security group
You must enroll in the MFA with Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator security group to successfully use your passkey as your MFA method.
Use your passkey to authenticate when logging into university resources
You can now use your passkey PIN or Windows Hello PIN to authenticate when logging into university resources and your device's lock screen.
