Securing Your Device with Antivirus Software

Antivirus software protects your identity and university resources by preventing the transmission of viruses and other malware. The university strongly recommends the use of antivirus software for any computer connecting to the UARK network.

Windows Defender is the recommended antivirus solution as of fall 2021. University-owned computers receive Defender through endpoint management software. Symantec is no longer available for UARK users and was discontinued in 2022.

Students

Windows Defender is strongly recommended for all Windows computers connecting to the UARK network.  

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff using university-owned computers have antivirus protection through endpoint management software installed by their departments or units.
