LinkedIn Learning has a lot of features and functions that are aimed at helping Learning improve on skills and plan for career trajectories. This article covers the terms used on the platform.
Glossary of learning content terms
These are terms about the types of content that can be found in LinkedIn Learning either in the Search function or from the main navigation menu.

| Collection |
Learner-created grouping of courses and/or single videos. Can be saved and shared with others. |

| AI Coaching |
A gen AI chatbot that helps with synopsis of videos, and searching for videos, courses, or learning paths relevant to the Learner’s Role, Goal, Skills, and Learner’s learning history. |
Located in the main navigation menu as AI Coaching, within the Search function, and while watching videos. The AI Coaching is a sidebar tool when watching videos that can provide insights and synopsis of videos. More info about AI Coaching from LinkedIn Learning Support |
| AI Role Play |
AI-powered coaching tool used to simulate challenging conversations through role play. Provides a variety of scenarios that are acted out by Learner and AI. Gives immediate feedback. |
Requires microphone use. Located in main navigation menu as AI Role Play. More info about AI Role Play from LinkedIn Learning Support. |
| Certifications (Professional Certifications) |
A collection of courses created with leading vendors (Microsoft, Adobe) to prepare for certification exams of their products. |
Located in Certifications on main navigation menu.

| Hands-On Tech |
Some courses include the opportunity to practice application of the skill being taught. These courses are designated with the label Hands-on Practice. |
Designation (</>) can be found in the course or video blurb in the Search. Browse these types of courses on the main navigation in Hands-On Tech. |

AI-created grouping of courses aimed at increasing skill level based on role and goal. |
Located in My Career Plan on main navigation menu. |

Expert-created sequence of courses designed to build expertise on a topic. |
Located in Search results. Example: “Become a Project Manager” |

AI-created sequence of modules, made up of courses. Personalized based on skill evaluations and learner’s set career goal. |
Located in My Career Plan on main navigation menu. Learning Plan can be edited and it automatically updates Progression on the Plan Progress graphic. |

42 skills are self-assessed by completing a questionnaire aimed at gauging Learner’s skill level. |
Skill evaluations are started in the Browse section. They can be tracked in the My Content section. |
| Career Goal |
Personalized, single goal that may contain several skills. A career goal is set by the Learner. |
Created and found under My Career Plan. Example: “Become a Data Analyst” |

Personalized AI-powered recommendations based on the Learner’s Role, Goal, and Skills. |
Located off main navigation menu as My Career Plan. The Learning Plan is located in this section. |
| Career Path |
Real-time data sourced from the LinkedIn platform (LinkedIn Economic Graph) that shows possible career trajectories based on the Learner’s current Role. |
Located under Career Paths. Data shows in graphic form the most common trajectory (i.e. most people make this career move), similar trajectory (i.e. a parallel job move), or a pivot trajectory (i.e. career change move). The graphic can be updated when the Role is updated. |
