Manage Your Zoom Profile Information

Your pronouns, location, and phone number can be updated in your Zoom profile, but due to administrative security settings at the university, many items in your profile cannot be changed.

To update your profile, log into the UARK Zoom Web Portal with your @uark.edu email address and password. Click Profile on the left.  

Customize Meeting Display Name

Your Zoom profile displays the name provided by the institution. Due to administrative security settings, UARK users are not able to update their display names in their profiles, but a meeting host can enable Rename to allow participants to customize their display names during a meeting. The host can also adjust their settings so that every meeting they host will have Rename enabled. Display names must be set by the participant for each meeting.

Enable Rename Feature

Hosts can turn this feature on and off at any time during a meeting. This will allow meeting participants to update their names for the current meeting only. 

  1. Click on the Security icon in the Zoom toolbar.
  2. Under “Allow Participants to:”, select “Rename Themselves”.

To set this feature as a default for all meetings, the host must enable it in their settings.

  1. Open the Zoom app, and click the Settings gear icon.
  2. Click View More Settings. Your web browser will open the Zoom settings page.
  3. On the left, select "In Meeting (Basic)" on the left.
  4. Scroll down to "Allow participants to rename themselves," and click to enable the setting.

Change Your Participant Display Name

After the host has enabled Rename, participants can change their display names for that meeting.

  1. Click Participants in the Zoom menu.
  2. Click More next to your name.
  3. Click Rename.

Pronouns

You can change your preferred pronouns in your profile and choose to show this information in meetings and as part of your contact card.

  1. Sign into the UARK Zoom Web Portal. Click Profile on the left. 
  2. Click Edit next to your name.
  3. Enter your pronouns in the Pronouns field.
  4. Select an option from the ”How would you like to share your pronouns?” dropdown menu.
  5. Click Save.
