For faculty and staff who are off campus, virtual private network (VPN) is essential for accessing on-campus remote desktops, servers, and other resources. VPN is like a tunnel that allows UARK users to access university resources securely, while prohibiting unauthorized incoming traffic. VPN may be required to access certain systems, services or applications, even when the user is on campus. The University of Arkansas uses GlobalProtect VPN.
Traffic Restrictions
Access to your home or non-university printers, network drives, etc., will be blocked while connected to the VPN. This configuration prevents compromised devices located off-campus from becoming a backdoor to university networks.
