Overview
Snooze is a Microsoft Outlook feature that supports email organization and productivity. It works by preventing important messages from getting lost in your inbox by temporarily removing it from your inbox and scheduling when it is a good time for you to "return" to your inbox. This allows you to get notifications for the email at a scheduled time. Anyone who uses Outlook on web or Windows OS will have the ability to use the Snooze button for any email. This articles details how to do this.
Before you start
The Snooze feature is only available on the new Outlook application (2025).
Steps to Snooze Emails
Take these steps to snooze any emails in your inbox.
- Open the email you want to return to your inbox at a later time.
- From the top ribbon, select Home > Snooze.
- From the drop-down menu, select the date and time for the message to reappear in your inbox. Once selected, the email will "disappear" from your inbox and be placed in the folder titled Snoozed.
Note: When the email is redelivered to your inbox, the time stamp on the email will be the time and date from its latest snoozed delivery. When the email is opened, it will show the original time stamp for the email.
Steps to Retrieve Snoozed Emails
Take these steps to redeliver emails to your inbox before the set snoozed date and time.
- Go to Outlook email folders and select Snoozed.
- Either right-click the email: Snooze > Unsnooze.
- Or from the top ribbon select Home > Snooze > Unsnooze.
Note: When the email is redelivered to your inbox, the time stamp on the email will be the time and date from its latest snoozed time, even when it is Unsnoozed. When the email is opened, it will show the original time stamp for the email.
