Audience: Project Managers for Reportable IT Projects

Project managers who need to share project management responsibilities or designate a backup manager on a TeamDynamix project can do so by adding an alternate project manager. Alternative project managers provides coverage when the primary project manager is unavailable, supports shared ownership, and enables designated team members to assist with project updates, coordination, and ongoing management activities.

Before you start

  • Must be the current Project Manager assigned to the project to complete these directions
  • The newly assigned Project Manager will need Project access and Project Manager security role on TeamDynamix. For assistance please contact the TeamDynamix Administrator.
  • The alternate project manager must first be added as a Resource before they can be assigned as alternate manager

Steps to Add or Remove an Alternate Manager

  1. Open the project (TDXWorkManagement > View Applications > Projects > select your project)
  2. From the left-hand menu, scroll down to and select Resources
  3. Confirm the alternative project manager is on the Resource list before proceeding. If the Resource is not on the list, they must first be added as a Resource, see How to add a resource.
  4. Select Actions

  7. Select Save
IMPORTANT: If the user lacks the permissions, the system provides a notification indicating this limitation. To update permissions, submit a TeamDynamix Administrator Request Form.

Troubleshooting

  • User has no access to TDWorkManagement
  • User has visibility of the project but cannot make edits
  • User does not appear in the Alternate Manager list (Step 6, above)
    • Ensure they have been added as a project resource first

What's next

Once assigned as a project manager, the Resource will have the ability to manage the project and update it as necessary. In the Resource list they will be flagged as Alternate Manager.
