Microsoft 365 Copilot: How to create scheduled prompts

Summary

How Microsoft Copilot licensed users can schedule prompts.

Body

Overview

Audience: Faculty and Staff who have Microsoft 365 Copilot license

Microsoft Copilot allows licensed users to schedule frequently used prompts to run automatically at a specific time or on a recurring schedule. Scheduled prompts can help automate routine tasks such as preparing for meetings, summarizing emails, reviewing action items, or creating daily or weekly briefings. Instead of remembering to run the same prompt repeatedly, Copilot runs it for you and saves the response in your chat history.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Open Microsoft Copilot Chat and sign in using your UARK account.
  2. Enter and run the prompt you want to reuse.
  3. Below the prompt response, hover over the ellipses (...) and select More Options
  4. Select Schedule this prompt.
Screenshot of step 3 and 4, select More Option, then select Schedule this prompt.
  5. A window will appear. Configure the schedule by selecting:
    1. When the prompt should run: Starts
    2. How often is should run: Every
    3. End date: Until
    4. Whether you would like to receive an email notification when the response is ready: Checkbox for Receive an email...
  6. Select Save.
Screenshot of steps 5 and 6, configure the scheduling and select save.

What's next

Your prompt will now run automatically based on the schedule you selected. It can be found in the Copilot chat history.

If you need to update your scheduled prompts, from within Copilot Chat, on the top right select the ellipses (...) More Options button and select Schedule prompts. The Managed scheduled prompts window will appear.
