Body
Purpose
This article explains the requirements and expectations for communication plans when assigning required training through Workday Learning. A communication plan ensures employees are notified in advance, understand the purpose of the training, and have adequate time to prepare before assignments appear in their Workday Learning account.
Communication Plan Requirements
If training will be mandatory for any UAF employee and delivered via Workday Learning, the requesting department must submit a communication plan. Communication plans:
- Provide consistent, clear messaging across units.
- Ensure employees understand why training is required and when it is due.
- Support compliance by meeting required notification timelines.
Key Requirements
- Audience: Identify who is required to complete the training (e.g., all employees in a unit, department, or with a specific job title).
- Purpose: State why the training is required (e.g., compliance, skill updates, new process adoption).
- Notification Details: Include important details such as training title, due date, and assignment date.
- Communication Methods: Specify how employees will be notified (e.g., initial email, supervisor announcements, intranet posts, team meetings).
- Owner: Identify the person or team responsible for drafting, sending, and tracking communications.
- Timeline: Impacted employees must be notified at least two weeks before the training is assigned in Workday Learning.
Note: Missing or incomplete communication plans may delay the development, assignment, or launch of the training.
